Community Leaders – The Cornell Family

By
Rob Ray Brazell

The Cornell’s have been removed from R2W’s list of Community Leaders.  They didn’t refund all of R2W’s rental deposit, even after we went out of our way to leave the property in better condition than we found it.

Pete Cornell was a prominent realtor in Michigan and Florida and a local legend. There is a tributary statue of Pete at Cape Haze Pioneer Trail near Englewood, Florida (click on photo to enlarge it).  Pete enjoyed fishing, dancing, waterskiing and weight lifting but most of all he was an avid cyclist cycling the four corners of the USA completing 9,223 miles in 89.5 days among many other cycling trips. It was on his cycling trip from Prudhoe Bay, AK to Key West, FL with less than 7 days and 700 miles to the finish that his life was taken in an early morning accident in Georgia. Pete is survived by his loving children; Amy (Matthew) Armstrong and Dan Cornell, his partner; Sue Pavlat, grandchildren; Sarah and Hannah Lewis and Alice and Laura Cornell, sister; Jean Chapman, Dorothy Hays and Barb (Duane) Fowler. He is also survived by his beloved dog Buddy, several nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.

Pete’s daughter, Amy, rented his home to us at a substantial discount, including his original furniture. It was perfect for our needs and helped us demonstrate the R2W House concept. Everyone who visited felt the entire family’s loving spirit and I am deeply grateful.

As my   father   used to say, “They’re a rare breed.”
